Organized every March as an initiative of Higher Ground Nepal, this event transcends mere footsteps – it’s a call to action, a celebration of empowerment, and a collective journey toward change.
All women have the right to live in freedom, away from violence, trafficking or any other form of exploitation and discrimination. Our Run is another step towards making this Right a reality in Nepal.

As Nepali society gravitates towards healthier lifestyles, often a doctor's warning is the catalyst for change in urban areas. The Women's Day 5K Fun Run is a clarion call, urging all to step beyond comfort and embrace self-care. Running is more than physical exercise; it's a gateway to numerous benefits. This 5K event champions women's physical well-being, bolstering their self-esteem and confidence. Together, they run, inspiring and upholding each other. In Nepal, where women face discrimination and violence, particularly in rural areas, the march toward modernity and shifting gender roles is hindered by a traditionally patriarchal society. With females comprising 86% of trafficking victims from Nepal, the Women's Day 5K Fun Run is more than a race; it's a beacon of awareness. It confronts the grim realities of abuse and exploitation, fueling the fire of change and participation in empowerment initiatives. Our run is a stride towards difference-making, a sprint toward societal change, and a marathon in nation-building. Annually, we lace up for causes close to our hearts, especially gender equality and women's empowerment. It's a moment for women and girls to embrace their true selves, discover their inner fortitude, and voice the silent struggles of many. We don't just run. We ignite change, empower voices, and build a stronger, more equitable Nepal.
Join our fight against human trafficking and abuse. Empower the vulnerable through care, education, and empowerment programs. Be a change agent.
